Doctor Who – Series 4 – The Specials is currently at number 10 in the Amazon Top 20 Pre-Release Chart. The September 20th release is ranked ahead of new releases from Manic Street Preachers, Susan Boyle and Kings Of Leon.

Expanding Expendables

The Expendables tops the box office charts in both the UK and US at present. Whilst retaining the number one slot for a second week in the US,  the Sylvester Stallone action thriller has opened in the UK in the top slot with a gross of $5.7m from 456 screens.

New Brian Tyler Score

Our release of  Brian Tyler’s Rambo soundtrack in 2008 was a big hit with film music fans, so we are delighted to announce that on August 23rd we are issuing his score for The Expendables. Directed by and starring Sylvester Stallone, it brings together the biggest action heroes of the last few decades including Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke,  Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and many more. They are involved in a battle to overthrow a South American dictator and the score wonderfully compliments the high-octane screen action.  The film opens in the UK on August 20th.

Sad to report the death of David Fanshawe, the internationally distinguished composer, ethnic sound recordist, archivist, performer, dynamic and entertaining lecturer, record producer, photographer, author and the recipient of many International Awards. His recording, African Sanctus, has been acclaimed across the world, a unique blend of the Latin Mass harmonised with traditional African music and a trailblazer for the World music movement. The Silva Screen release of the title has never been out of catalogue. All at the company extend their condolences to his wife Jane and  family.

We Get Carter

Having recently acquired the licensing rights to Roy Budd’s extensive film music catalogue, Get Carter is scheduled for release on August 23rd. One of the most iconic scores in British  film history, this 28 track soundtrack (including dialogue) includes an expanded 20 page booklet giving the full background to the music. More releases are scheduled throughout the autumn.

A New Millennium In July

Jacob Groth’s score for Stieg Larsson’s Millenniunm Trilogy is released on July 26th. With sales in excess of 30m+ worldwide for the three books, the film versions have been eagerly awaited. The first, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo appeared in UK cinemas earlier in the year and will be followed by The Girl Who Played With Fire (Aug 27th) and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest (Nov 26th). Groth is the most celebrated film composer in Denmark and this sinister orchestral score captures the mood perfectly.

Doctor Who On Stage

A Doctor Who live show will be staged this autumn at locations across the UK. Packed with special FX, optical illusions, video clips and an epic story, the production will feature the Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels and many more legendary foes. Murray Gold has written a new score which will be played live by a 16 piece orchestra on stage alongside his previous themes.  He said, “The live element always adds something extra”. In the market share for singles, Silva Screen has delivered an outstanding performance,  punching well above its weight. The company rank 12th with a share of 0.2%. in the download track world where the four majors have well over three-quarters of the market.
