Sad to announce the death of Freddie Hubbard on December 29th aged 70. The pioneering trumpeter was one of the keystone artists of the Blue Note label in the 1960s and followed in the footsteps of Miles Davis as one of the most significant soloists of his generation. He played alongside greats such as Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, Quincy Jones, Oscar Peterson and many more. He recorded for HipBop (a division of Silva Screen Records) in 2001, releasing New Colors, a session that recalled his historic Blue Note days and revisited some of his finest recorded moments.
