Our version of Maybe Tomorrow, the theme to The Littlest Hobo has entered Amazon’s top 10 soundtrack chart. The song has increased in popularity recently thanks to its use in the Gregg’s advert and Ronan Keating’s performance on Children In Need.

Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus is posting excellent figures as it rolls out over Europe. Variety reports that It scored the third highest per screen average of the year in Italy and has achieved a gross of $3.4 m in the UK since release. More news on the soundtrack release date will be posted here as soon as we receive it.

More news on the future release of our exciting project Symphonic Motown will be posted here soon. The teaming of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with a subtle new twist on a selection of Motown classic songs will get a first TV airing shortly. Sky Sports will be utilising Get Ready by The Temptations in it’s new orchestral styling in December.

Silva Screen’s release schedule for 2010 continues to grow with the news that the soundtrack for The Boys Are Back will be released in January. The haunting, ethereal score by former Dire Straits guitarist Hal Lindes also includes music from Sigur Ros, Carla Bruni and Elbow. The film opens in the UK on Jan 22nd and stars Clive Owen in a moving a confessional tale of fatherhood. USA Today have noted that Owen gives “an Oscar-worthy performance”.

Following on from our forthcoming release of The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus comes another Mychael Danna composed score. It’s been over ten years since his collaboration with Egyptian director Atom Egoyan for The Sweet Hereafter. They team up again for Chloe, a sexually charged drama starring Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson. Screen Daily have compared the lush score to the work of Bernard Herrmann. Silva Screen will realease Mychael & Jeff Danna’s score for The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus in January. Terry Gilliam’s imaginative fantasy features the last performance on screen of Heath Ledger and has received outstanding reviews. It’s currently rolling out across Europe for release into December and January.

David Fanshawe will receive the Honorary Degree Of Doctor Of Music from the University Of West England tomorrow (November 13th) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to highlighting music from around the world and his pursuit of musical excellence. The composer and explorer began his odyssey over 40 years ago to collect and record endangered World Music. His African Sanctus release remains an essential part of the Silva Screen catalogue.

Silva Screen release the soundtrack to the documentary, The Dream’s On Me, celebrating the centenary of the birth of American songwriter Johnny Mercer on November 30th. Presented by Clint Eastwood and produced by TCM, it features a host of stars performing and talking about this magisterial composer. In the meantime the celebrations kick-off on Radio 2 this Friday (November 13th) with a night devoted to his work. At 19:00 there’s a documentary, Pardon My Southern Accent, presented by Clarke Peters. At 19:30 Friday Night Is Music Night devotes a live performance from the Mermaid Theatre to his craft. Artists performing include Curtis Stigers, Ruthie Henshall and the 70 piece BBC Concert Orchestra. At 21:15 Barry Manilow explores his wonderful way with words on Manilow And Mercer.

Silva Screen’s extensive catalogue of military recordings covers a wide range of music from classical to film. Toby Carvery have recently used our recording of Elgar’s Land Of Hope And Glory by The Royal Artillery Band for their radio advertising which is now moving to a national roll-out.
