Dear John, Will Be Home April 19th

The UK premiere of the film Dear John took place at the Odeon High Street Kensington last night with the two lead stars, Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in attendance. Based on the best seller by Nicholas (The Notebook) Sparks it’s a classic contemporary romantic film about a love affair between a soldier and a student. The soundtrack of distinctive and endearing emotional songs has been a major hit in the USA and the film knocked Avatar off the top of the box-office chart. Silva Screen release the soundtrack on April 19th following the film’s release on April 14th

The Dream’s On Me For Easter Sunday

Arena – Johnny Mercer – The Dream’s On Me is set for transmission on BBC Four at 9PM on Easter Sunday, April 4th. Executive produced by Clint Eastwood, the original documentary transmitted in the US last year and will be extended here with extra interview footage. Arena executive producer Anthony Wall will appear on Robert Elms onĀ  BBC London Live 94.9FM to discuss the film from midday on Friday April 2nd.

Johnny Mercer At Easter

BBC4 will be showing Clint Eastwood’s acclaimed documentary about the life of songwriter Johnny Mercer over Easter (date tbc). Celebrating the centenary of his birth last year, the Silva Screen soundtrack release recently received a four star review in Mojo. As Clint so rightly says, “Mercer may not be a household name today, but his songs are like the air that we breathe, they’re part of everyone”.

The International Film Music Critics Association has announced it 2009 winners for scoring excellence. Christopher Young’s Drag Me To Hell has won in two categories, Original Score For A Horror/Thriller and Film Music Composition Of The Year for the track Concerto To Hell. Marvin Hamlisch also wins for The Informant! in the category Best Original Score For A Comedy Film.

Tadlow Music are also honoured with Exodus scooping Best Re-Recording Of An Existing Score. This release has also been a winner in the same category in the 22nd Annual Sammy Film Music Awards.
