The long awaited soundtrack to Doctor Who Series 6 is finally in sight, continuing Murray Gold’s outstanding contribution to the highly successful BBC sci-fi series. The final details of the release have now been confirmed. The CD is now available to pre-order on Amazon here.

Since 2005, Murray Gold’s incidental music for DOCTOR WHO has either been outstandingly cinematic (SERIES 3 OST) or disappointing “elevator muzak” (A CHRISTMAS CAROL OST) with many fans saying that the series needs a new composer. This latest release has a lot to prove.
I haven’t heard any fans say that.
Some fans have certainly said that Murray Gold should be replaced, however the majority of fans love Gold’s music and he would be a huge loss to the show.
When will this be released in the U.S.?

The cds of Murray’s work are always an event worth waiting for. Especially now they’ve gone to double albums. What I want to know is when you, Silva, are going to go back and given series 1-4 the same treatment. Some scores are woefully under-represented (Girl in the Fireplace to start with). I look forward to Series 6 especially as this year the music’s been muted, no doubt to please those moaning it was to loud previously, and so I think I’ll be hearing some stuff for the first time. Roll on December!
Murray Gold is fantastic. He has great talent. Six stars for this fabulous composer!
Here’s hoping the album includes the short musical piece that plays during Amy’s monologue at the beginning of the USA version of the series six episodes.
The same music, if you notice, plays after Canton shoots the Silent in Day of the Moon, and when the Mock-TARDIS takes off in The Doctor’s Wife.
As well as during the opening cornfield-set scene in Let’s Kill Hitler – so there’s a pretty good chance that one will make the cut… we’ll have to see!
