The final release in the Gerry Anderson 7″ set will released on Record Store Day 2013 (20/4/13) as a flexi disc and poster of The Cass Carnaby Five, limited to 1500 copies.
The Cass Carnaby Five found fame in the mid-60s when they topped the international charts with their Latin rhythm instrumental “Dangerous Game”. Unfortunately their groovy hit had a hidden code which caused US Air Force RTL2 cargo aircraft to be shot down. The International Rescue team then launched a mission to foil the scheme at a performance from Cass at the luxurious alpine Paradise Peaks hotel.
All this took place in the Thunderbirds episode The Cham-Cham but sadly Cass and his group faded from the public eye soon after. However we now have the chance to hear more from these international chart toppers on this limited edition flexi EP.
In reality, The Cass Carnaby Five gave composer Barry Gray the chance to show his incredible versatility in supplying all forms of music for Gerry Anderson’s ground-breaking productions. The six tracks here cover music that appeared in Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90. From a Twist instrumental to late night jazz on the radio, this release underlines the levels of immense creativity at work even on incidental music on these unparalleled productions.
This release will be available in record shops ONLY on the 20th of April, but a small number will be held back for sale on the Silva Screen website two weeks later on Friday 3/5/13 at 10am
