Ben was hiking and cycling in Spain in November and diagnosed with lung cancer at Christmas. After a short battle, he sadly passed away surrounded by family at home on 19th April 2026.

Ben was a monumental figure in British television and film music, perhaps best known for his BAFTA-winning score for Walking with Dinosaurs and ITV’s long-running hit drama Vera starring Brenda Blethyn. His extraordinary music and legacy will be much missed.
