SALVABLE, from co-directors Bjorn Franklin and Johnny Marchetta, paints a gritty portrait of an aging professional fighter struggling to pick up the pieces of his broken life in Wales.
The film stars Toby Kebbell, Shia LaBeouf, and James Cosmo and is an emotional, action-packed film about a prize fighter’s battles both inside and outside the ring.
When a battered boxer past his prime finds his dreams and his relationships on the ropes, he falls back in with a dangerous crowd and has to take the biggest swing of his life to reclaim his hope and his family.
Irish singer/songwriter David Keenan makes his narrative feature scoring debut. “It was an incredible experience getting to create the soundtrack. A madcap challenge and learning curve.”
“When I read the script ideas started to pour out and the result is a soundtrack that maps the film and the characters’ journeys from beginning to end.”
Salvable isn’t Keenan’s first experience with film; earlier this year, the musician premiered Focla ar Chanbhás, a documentary which follows him through the creative process across 500 days. Keenan launched his debut album, A Beginner’s Guide to Bravery in 2020, which reached number one on the Irish Independent Albums charts.
David Keenan wrote the ode to his hometown of Dundalk on the Irish border “El Paso” at 14. Self-educated and guided by his grandfather’s storytelling gift songwriting has always been a full time vocation. After a number of self-released EPs his first album “A Beginner’s Guide to Bravery” (2020) reached number 1 in the Irish indie Charts and was followed by the critically acclaimed second “WHAT THEN?” a year later. Other works include live album/concert film “Alchemy & Prose” and the d.i.y “CRUDE” records. With a reputation as a uniquely poetic singer-songwriter/storyteller and relentless live performer he has toured consistently from a young age across Ireland, the UK, Europe, North America and Australia with events including two headline nights in Dublin’s Olympia theatre, the main stage of Electric Picnic, appearances at Lowlands, SXSW, Sydney Fest, Folk Alliance, Eurosonic, Glastonbury and Celtic Connections, residencies in Paris and New York’s Irish Arts Centres & a recent headline show in Ireland’s National Concert Hall.
