London Music Works and cellist Nick Squires release Music from The Last of Us on Silva Screen Records, a new album celebrating the unforgettable sound world created by Gustavo Santaolalla.

Spanning music from The Last of Us Part I and Part II, plus the first two seasons of The Last of Us, the album brings together many of the saga’s most recognisable themes and motifs, shaped by Gustavo Santaolalla’s signature use of the ronroco. Its distinctive, weathered timbre has become inseparable from the series’ emotional tone, grounding the music in something intimate, raw, and resolutely human.

Alongside Santaolalla’s iconic score, the track list also includes two standout songs closely associated with the television adaptation: Max Richter’s On the Nature of Daylight, heard during the heartbreaking final moments of Bill and Frank’s story, and a-ha’s Take on Me, performed in a rare pocket of calm when Ellie plays and sings it for Dina in an abandoned music shop in Seattle. For this album, “Take on Me” is presented as a stripped-back rendition, with guitar underpinning the performance and cello carrying the melody.
